Posted by Minneapolis-based award-winning Composer / Director James Everest returns to Grand Marais to present a site-specific “Sound Garden” performance installation at Harbor Park on Sunday May 27 as part of a 4-part suite of site-specific “sound gardens” composed for each of the four seasons, at 4 different outdoor locations around MN. The SPRING Sound Garden event is FREE and part of the annual Art Along The Lake gallery tour festival taking place over Memorial Day Weekend May 26-28, 2018.
The Harbor Park Sound Garden is a family-friendly free outdoor event open to all ages and will take place from noon – 5pm on Memorial Day weekend May 26-27, 2018. The Sound Garden event will celebrate the coming of spring and the history, geography, and ecology of Harbor Park and Lake Superior, including personal stories and archival photos, as well as the community of local volunteers who brought the park into being. The Sound Garden will feature a temporary sound installation, combining live musicians and small choir with 40 small, battery-powered remote speakers distributed throughout the park. In addition to the sound installation, the event will feature visual art elements by local artists, live poetry, dance, history, and storytelling and interactive opportunities.
