The Winter Sound Garden first premiered on frozen Lake Nokomis in February 2018, the first installment of composer / director JG Everest’s 4-part Water Suite: Four Seasonal Sound Gardens that premiered at four different outdoor sites around Minnesota in each of the four seasons that year. The premiere featured commissioned site-specific poetry and live dance, and an accompanying Winter song, “Snowflakes” sung by by Blue Lady and the Free Range Choir. Since its premiere, the Winter Sound Garden has been remounted at other sites, including Harbor Park in Grand Marais, and both West River Parkway and Heartspace Garden in Minneapolis. This winter, it will be remounted at Lebanon Hills Regional Park (New Years Eve), Crosby Farm Regional Park (Jan 25), and Wild River State Park (Feb 8) with a variety of embedded performances.
